The Guest Book is expired.
MOUNT GILEAD: Arthur S. "Art" Hoepf, age 77, of Mount Gilead, passed away Wednesday evening, July 2, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on March 21, 1937 in Tiffin, OH to the late Leo J. and Eulalia O. (Wensinger) Hoepf. Art graduated from New Riegel High School in the class of 1955. Shortly after high school Art enlisted in the United States Army and served our country honorably until his discharge in 1962.
Art spent most of his working years at Whirlpool Corporation in Marion. He held many positions from driving tow motor to working on different assembly lines. For Art, it allowed him to change things up even if it meant switching shifts. After committing 38 and a half years of working there he retired to enjoy spending time with his family.
On January 24, 1976, Art married the love of his life, Sally A Morgan. Together they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage.
Art had an abundant amount of love for his family. He would do anything to help take care of them. He especially enjoyed grilling food and going raccoon or rabbit hunting with his family. When he wasn't spending time with his family you could find Art dragging the track in between horse races at the Morrow County Fairgrounds. He also loved to mow the grass and attend many auctions around the area. For many years, Art liked to volunteer for the Peace Church setting up chairs and tables, making homemade noodles, and whatever else needed to be done for the mess hall at the Fairgrounds.
Arthur will be dearly missed by his wife, Sally; children: Tom and Tim Hoepf, Scott (Lisa) Sanford, Brian (Roni) Sanford, Robin Jones, and Cindy Schaefer; five grandchildren and three great children with another on the way; three brothers: Walter (Mary) Hoepf, Michael (Diane) Hoepf, and Cletus (Patty) Hoepf; five sisters, Ruth Fox, Mary Ellen (Cyril) Gosche, Arlene (Richard) Holman, Dorothy (Jack) Clutter, and Patty (Tony) Springman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Gerald, Robert, and Dale Hoepf.
The Hoepf family will greet friends from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. A service celebrating his life will be held immediately following at 3 p.m. with Chaplain Dave Matos officiating. Military honors will be provided by the active duty U.S. Army, as well as the VFW Post 8054 and AmVets Post 87.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Hospice of Morrow County, 228 South Street, Mount Gilead.
