Gerald C. Harrer

BUCYRUS: Gerald C. Harrer, 87, of rural Bloomville passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014, at Heartland of Bucyrus. Gerald was born August 1, 1926, in Lykens to the late Aro and Ada (Yeiter) Harrer. He was first married to Marilyn (Hughes) Harrer on June 10, 1951, and she preceded him in death on April 25, 1992. On July 31, 1993, he married Corrine E. (Rossman) Ransom Harrer, and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2007. He was also preceded in death by sisters Alice Harrer and Lucille (Nelson) Durbin.

Gerald is survived by daughters Nancy (Delbert) Fry of Minot, ND, and Linda (Charles) Swick of Galion; grandchildren and their children Daryl Fry, Minot ND; Daniel Fry, Minneapolis, MN; Donneil (Kristi) (Kaycee, Caleb, Gavin) of Mandan, ND; Karin (Chris) Malenius (Danielle, Avery) of Fairbanks, AK; Douglas (Betina) Fry (Carter, Elsie), Minot; Dwayne (Jennifer) Fry (Jaxon) of Minot; Kristin (Travis) Lennick (Abigail, Paden, Allison) of N. Salem; Kindrea Fry (Mikayla, Samantha, Gabriella) of Keene, ND; Darron, Duston, and Dallas Fry all of New Town, ND; Kerstan (Alex) Nelson of Minot; Katelin Fry of Minot, Michael Swick; Galion, OH, Alissa (Rich) Clouse of Marengo; and Chelsea Swick of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; step children Roger L. (Debbie) Ransom and Phillip H. (Veronica) Ransom; step grandchildren Laura, Kirk, Tricia, Kevin, Jeremiah,Daniel, and Elizabeth; niece Betty Durbin and nephew Duane (Sue) Durbin.

Gerald lived his entire life in the community and was a 1944 graduate of Lykens H.S. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific. Gerald farmed and had worked at Swan Rubber and General Electric. He was a member of Evangelical Faith Fellowship Church, the Lykens Conservation League, served on the Lykens Volunteer Fire Dept., and the Cr. Co. Farm Bureau. He enjoyed traveling, Worshipping, farming, and working at the fair for the Lykens food booth.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Evangelical Faith Fellowship Church with Rev. Tim Grimes officiating, burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. The family suggests memorials be made to the Church Memorial Fund or the Am. and expressions of sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com
