Robert (Bob) E. Chase
BUCYRUS: Robert (Bob) E Chase passed peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 3, 2013.
He was born April 23, 1939 in Achilles, Virginia to Herman and Olive Chase. He moved to Willard in the 1940s where he attended school, graduating from Willard High School in 1957.
After high school graduation, Bob enrolled in active service in the United States Navy, serving from 1957 - 1959. Bob attended Ohio State University 's Agriculture College, graduating in 1963. Bob was a lifelong country boy. He used his agriculture degree throughout his career, working in many areas of the farming industry. He also was employed at Donnelly Printing Co in the Human Resources department and Prescott Ball & Turben as a stockbroker.
Bob and Connie settled in Crawford County in 1967, raising five children and many farm animals. As a father, Bob guided his children with his loving firmness. He loved the large family gatherings and having his grandchildren visit.
Besides his wife, Connie; Bob is survived by children: Noel (John) Lizotte, Rebecca (Mike) Chase, Dionne (Brad) Staples, Matthew Chase, Leah (Jimmy) Day; he also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and a great- grandchild; in addition, Bob is survived by brother Richard (Dottie) Chase; two sisters Dottie (Phil) Turner and Grace (Dennis) Vance; as well as sister-in-law Judy Chase. Bob was preceded in death by one brother John.
During his free time, Bob enjoyed drinking coffee and arguing politics at the local airport. His love of flying was inherited from his father and he owned his own airplane. It could be said that Bob's hobbies were family, farming and flying. Bob was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and loved singing the old hymns. His faith was strong and evident in his approach to life. Bob will be remembered for his ability to carry on a conversation with anybody and his steady demeanor.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Bucyrus Methodist Church on Saturday April 13th at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mike Corwin officiating. The family will have a time of gathering and fellowship following the service.

You don't know me but I felt very saddened by your loss when I read of it. Please find comfort in the words "And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be nor more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. And look! I am making all things new"

My deepest sympathy with the Chase family for your loss of a wonderful man. I worked with Bob at Land O'Lakes and remember our many conversations. He clearly loved his family as he talked very highly of all of you. Bob was always the professional, family man, and clearly a dear friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
