BUCYRUS: Virginia E. Bare of Bucyrus died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Bucyrus Comm. Hospital.
She was born in Bucyrus to the late William J. and Bessie M. (Meck) Bowers. Virginia graduated from Bucyrus High School and completed nursing school at Riverside-White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus along with attending The Ohio State University. Virginia loved caring for and helping individuals as a registered nurse at Bucyrus Community Hospital and in family and patient homes.
On August 10, 1961 she married Noble Bare who preceded her in death on February 26, 2004.
Virginia was a member of the Wyandot and Crawford County Historical Societies, Friends of the Library, Bucyrus United Methodist Church and the former Epworth UMC. She enjoyed being outside working in her garden and found peace listening to the wind blow through the trees while reading. Virginia even published a book, "Nurses, a Caring Hand," about her care toward her patients.
Virginia is survived by her nephew, Charlie (Norma) Bowers; nieces, Jean Kottyan, Barbara Cryer, Eleanor Meck-Pontius and Sue Meck-Bender; stepdaughter, Darla Ohl; numerous friends and her faithful canine companion, Maury. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers Richard Meck Bowers and James W. Bowers.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19 at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor Don Kraps officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
