SAVAGE - Joseph P. Of Lancaster, NY, August 6, 2014; beloved husband of the late Vera (Szczesny); loving father of the late Carol Sue Savage; also survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Funeral from the FUNERAL HOME OF WENDEL & LOECHER, INC., 27 Aurora St. Lancaster, Monday morning at 9:30 and at St. Mary's R.C. Church at 10. Family present Sunday from 1-5 PM. Joseph retired from the Postal Service in 1984 as a Postal Supervisor and retired from the tavern business in 1987. He operated Vee-Jay Lounge with his wife Vera T. He served with the 174th NYNG from November 1938 - August 29, 1942, after which he was commissioned 2nd Lt. and joined the 34th Infantry Division in Ireland. He also served time in England and North Africa with the 34th as security personnel for Gen. Eisenhower's headquarters. He was a P.O.W. of WW II. Joe was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
