DIEDRICH - Richard Charles "Dick" Age 86, of Schenectady, NY, died peacefully Sunday, September 22, 2013. He was born in 1927 to the late Clyde and Mildred Diedrich of Tonawanda, NY. He earned his Bachelor's degree in mathematics at Buffalo State College, his Master's and PhD in mathematics education both from Syracuse University. He started his career at Buffalo State College in 1964 first teaching mathematics and then as an Administrator until his early retirement in 1982. Dick is survived by Anne, his loving wife of 61 years, of Schenectady; son Alan (Beth) of Schenectady; daughter Barbara of Atlanta, GA; grandsons Russell of Norfolk, VA and Samuel of Schenectady; brother Robert of Schenectady; sister Barbara Parslow (Gordon) of Piseco, NY; brother-in-law Archie Miller (Bobbie) of Rocky Mount, NC; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Clyde, and sisters-in-law Rena and Helen of Piseco, NY. He was a devoted husband and father and a loving and fun grandfather, with a sense of humor, sweet tooth, imagination, and endless curiosity that will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mathematics Department Fund for a scholarship in the memory of Dr. Richard Diedrich. A memorial service will be held at the Lake Pleasant Methodist Church, Lake Pleasant, NY on Saturday, October 5 at 11:00 AM.
