MENDES - Sally G. September 5, 2013, at Cape Regency in Centerville, MA, beloved wife of the late Cesar R. Mendes of Portugal and Osterville, MA. Born June 4, 1926 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ruth A. (Tennant) and Clarence E. Gray and beloved sister of the late Peggy Gray of Buffalo, Daniel Gray of Weston, MA and Ruth Brounoff of Dallas, TX. She is survived by her dear younger sister Jeanne Gray and devoted friend JoAnn Shrum, both living in Centerville. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Suzanne Payne, Katherine Gray, Greta Duran, Daniel Brounoff and Zelman Brounoff. She graduated from Bennett High School and received an Associate's degree. She trained herself for her first job in Niagara Falls at Bell Aircraft. AVCO took over Bell and NASA took over AVCO. Sally worked for many years as a technical analyst for missile flights. She met her husband while working for NASA in Geneva and spent their early married life in Switzerland. They moved to Cape Cod, where Sally worked for AVCO-NASA and Cesar was a successful land developer and builder. After his death, Sally volunteered her time daily helping kindergarten students in Osterville, then Hyannis, MA. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
