ALBERT P. CURTIS SR. - WILLISTON - Albert P. Curtis Sr., 81, of Falcon Manor Apt. 114, in Williston, was called to rest on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, in Starr Farm Nursing Center as result of a sudden stroke while recovering in rehab from minor surgery. Prior to his death he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Shelburne on Aug. 4, 1932, the son of the late Ezra Curtis Sr. and Rose Lavallette. He married Arona A. Atkins, of Lincoln, at St. Jude's Church in Hinesburg in 1955. That began their life of 58 years together. They lovingly raised three children. Albert is survived by his wife, Arona; their three children, son, Albert P. Curtis Jr. of Hinesburg, Albert was married to Julie Curtis, and their son, James L. Curtis of Bristol and his fiancee, Jayne, and her son, Keaton; daughter, Jane M. Curtis of Swanton; and daughter, Tina and her husband, Mark Ploof Sr., of Colchester, and their two children, Mark Ploof Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Colchester, and Travis C. Ploof of Colchester. He is also survived by his beloved great-granddaughters, Kayla R. Ploof and Hailey N. Ploof; brother, Louis Curtis Sr. of Killeen, Texas; two sisters, Shirley Laberge of Charlotte, and Madeline Matte of St. Johnsbury; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Albert was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Albert served during the Korean Conflict War and was stationed in France. He was a beloved family man. He worked for the Burlington Street Department and retired from A.C. Paving Company. Thank you to all the health care professionals who took care of Albert. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ready Funeral and Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd., Burlington. A funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow with military honors at New Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Plattsburgh Avenue, Burlington.
