CAROLE ADELE JENKINS Obituary
CAROLE ADELE JENKINS - BRIGHTON, Mich. - Carole Adele Jenkins, 66, a resident of Brighton, Mich., passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, from a recurring heart condition. Carole was born to the late Edna and Ray Jenkins in Chatham, N.Y. She grew up in Essex Junction, Vt., and graduated from Essex Junction High School, with her lifetime friend, Carol (Stewart) Willey. She went on to receive a B.A. from Springfield College ('68), then came to Michigan in 1971, where she earned an M.A. from Michigan State University ('73). Carole was an elementary principal in Ann Arbor, Mich., until she retired in 2006, and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with disabilities. She settled in Brighton, Mich., after retirement and was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Whitmore Lake. Carole was an avid water sports enthusiast and camped, canoed and white-water rafted with friends from graduate school. She enjoyed playing cards and remained an active sailor, skier and golfer. Carole is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Betsey Jenkins of Colchester, Vt.; and the families of their two sons, Carl and wife, Tanya, and their children, Alyssa, Aleksa, Peyton, and Addison; and Michael and wife, Laura, and their son, Noah. Carole is also survived by many friends who supported her throughout her life. A private burial will take place at a later date in Dover Plains, N.Y. Donations in her memory may be sent to the .
