DALLAS RICHARD BOUSHEY - BURLINGTON - Dallas Richard Boushey, 94, retired assistant professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the College of Medicine, University of Vermont, died at his home on Sunday, July 6, 2014. He was born in Kampsville, Ill., on July 29, 1919, and resided in South Burlington and Burlington since the age of six. Dallas was employed at UVM from 1937 to 1987. He worked in the Animal Research Department for three years, and spent the last 47 in the Anatomy and Neurobiology Department, first as a technician and finally as an assistant professor with tenure. In 1990, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science degree at UVM. He also was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy Hospital Corp. Dallas was a member of the Washington Lodge #37 F&AM for more than 60 years, as well as a member of the American Association of Anatomists, Scottish Rite 32nd degree Valley of Burlington, and member of the Mount Sinai Shrine #3 in Montpelier, and a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Burlington. After retirement in 1987, he worked with Meals on Wheels for five years, and enjoyed boating, fishing and camping at Lake Champlain, and hunting at his Bakersfield camp site. Survivors include his four daughters, Sally A. McGreevy of Florida, Suzanne Foster of Shelburne, Paula L. Thomas of Burlington, and Mary P. Boushey of South Burlington; four grandchildren, Matthew and Megan McGreevy, and Jon and Eric Thomas; and one great-grandson, Tekai McGreevy. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann C. Boushey; and brother, Vernon Boushey of Montgomery, Ala. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
