Obituary Condolences

EDDY JOSEPH COUTURIER - BOLTON - Eddy Joseph Couturier, 87, of Bolton, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. He was born in Canaan on May 22, 1925, the son of the late Archille and Rosa (Dubie) Couturier. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. Eddy worked for many years at St. Michael's College, working his way up to Food Service Manager. After retiring, he was called back for formal occasions to make his famous ice sculptures. In his retirement years, he enjoyed gathering the family for food and penny poker, wood working, cooking, and his pride and joy were his flower and vegetable gardens. He also volunteered many hours at Fernwood Manor. He was a member of the VFW in Winooski and an Honorary Lifetime Member of St. Michael's Fire & Rescue. Eddy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia "Ginny" Couturier of Bolton; their children, Ginny Beane and husband, Louis, of Colchester, Edward Couturier Sr. of Bolton, and William Couturier of Colchester; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Albina Ingerson and husband, Cliff, of Whitefield, N.H., Archiline Hurbet and husband, Clayton, of Littleton, N.H.; brother, Archille Couturier and wife, Glenna, of Whitefield, N.H.; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by eight siblings; and daughter-in-law, Dorene Couturier, whom he thought the world of. His family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at the VNA Adult Day Program and to Dr. Dougherty for the care and assistance given to Eddy and his family during his illness. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Park Cemetery, South Burlington.
