GRANT W. LEWIS SR. - HUNTINGTON - Grant W. Lewis Sr., 83, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at his home in Huntington in the care of his wife and soul mate, Donna (Ratta) Lewis. He was born on May 24, 1930, the son of Napoleon "Poli" and Dora (LaForce) Lewis. He moved to Huntington at the age of three. Grant he worked for the Town Highway Department with his father, logged with Frank Miles, worked for AD Pease Grain for 30-plus years, and was currently employed by Bourdeau Feed. Grant was a firefighter with the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department for 44 years, and served as Chief for 26 years. He received the Olga Hallock Civic Award in 2000 for his service to the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department, Cemetery Trustee for 20 years and selectman for four years. Grant enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, scratchoff lottery tickets, sugar making, horseshoes, and was a Red Sox baseball fan. He was a member of the Huntington Center Water Co., the Crouching Lion Snowmobile Club, the Riverside Horseshoe Club and the Sod Busters Horseshoe Club. Along with his wife, he is survived by son, Grant "Billy" Lewis Jr. of Huntington; daughters, Debra Longe and husband, Bryce, of Eden, and Margo Sicely of Waterbury; brothers, Edward Lewis of Virginia, Everett Lewis and companion, Pat Rocque, of Williston, and Napoleon "John" Lewis and wife, Cheryl, of Williston; grandchildren, Roger Longe and companion, Erica Duggento, Bryan Longe and wife, Amy, Kirk Longe and wife, Ami, all of Waterbury, Sable Lewis of Williston, David Sicely and wife, Rheannon, of Barre, Misty Sicely and companion, Louis Lowell, of Morrisville, and Kevin Nutter of Waterbury; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Brooke Longe, Makaylin and Logan Longe, Morgan and Anna Longe, Payton Sicely, and Latisha, Ashley and Louis Lowell Jr.; sisters-in-law, Glenda and Jerry Young, Juanita Ratta and companion, Randy Little, and Marquita Deyo and companion, Robert Labombard; brother-inlaw, Gary Ratta and wife Eleanor; close friends, Clint "Yogi" Alger, and Ken Russin; his special companion dog, Gingles; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Zina Carpenter and brother-in-law, Rod Carpenter; and sisters-in-law, Myrtice Lewis and Anne Lewis. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Huntington Community Church in Huntington Center. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot St., in Richmond.
