IRA CHARLES FARNSWORTH - PANTON - Ira Charles Farnsworth, 89, passed away Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at his home in Panton. He was born on Aug. 9, 1925, in Oxford, Mass., the son of Charles and Emily (Turksham) Farnsworth. Ira was a life member of the NRA and National Bench Rest Shooters Association. He served in the US Army for four years during W.W.II, and retired from the Vermont Army National Guard in December 1983, after 40 years of service. He was the owner of Farnsworth Ammunition until 2009. Ira was predeceased by his wife, Emogene Farnsworth, in 2009; and is survived by three sons, Ira Farnsworth and partner, Gracie, of Pennsylvania, James Farnsworth and wife, Pamela, of Panton, and Roger Farnsworth and Cheryl of Bristol; eight grandchildren, James Farnsworth and wife, Jill, Kate and husband, Brett Emilo, Jillian and Kevin Adams, Heather and husband, Chris Hill, Jaime Farnsworth and partner, Brad, Jessi Farnsworth and husband, Paul DeBoer, Emily and husband, Torrey Mack, and Kelsey Farnsworth; numerous great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his twin brother, Myron "Ron" Farnsworth. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at the BrownMcClay Funeral Home in Vergennes, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes.
