JOHN E. "GENTLEMAN JACK" MALONE - ST. ALBANS - John E. "Gentleman Jack" Malone, husband, father, music lover and Hawaiian shirt enthusiast, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was at home surrounded by his loved ones, with those whose lives he touched through the many years. Born in Chelsea, Mass., in 1948, Jack moved to Vermont in the 1970s where he made is home in Montgomery. He worked for several years at Kilgore's and Backstreet serving award winning "Bloody Mary's" and great conversation before beginning a 30-year career with Ford Motor Co. Jack had a song and a story for every occasion and once you made his acquaintance you had a friend for life. His greatest loves were his family and The Sandy Beaches Cruise which he went on each year for the last 11 years. He is survived his wife and best friend of 34 years, Jamie Malone; two sons, Jeremy Howe and Liam Malone and their wives, Christina and Lydia; two beloved granddaughters, Persephone and Ella Howe; baby sister, Peggy (Malone) Bruno of Framingham, Mass.; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, John Malone Sr. and Margaret "Dolly" Malone. A celebration of his life will be held this Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at the VFW, 353 Lake St., St. Albans, beginning at 7 p.m. Please come in casual attire and a Hawaiian shirt if you have one. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, alzfnd.org. The family asks that you find that tune that reminds you of him, that special song that meant so much and pass it along to someone. His zeal for music was the cornerstone of his life and it's a legacy that will carry forever.
