JOSEPH RAYMOND GARRISON - SWANTON - Joseph Raymond Garrison, age 58 years, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2012, at his St. Albans Road residence, with his loving wife, Barbara, at his side. A native of the Burlington area, Joseph and Barbara have resided in Swanton for over 25 years. In earlier years, he was associated with Whitcomb Paving and served as bartender for the Burlington Eagles Club. For the past 11 years, he has been employed with Pike Industries, Inc., until illness forced him to retire. He was an avid trout fisherman and deer hunter and especially enjoyed his yearly trips to Aruba. Joseph faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He was born in Burlington on May 12, 1954, the son of James A. Garrison I and Gladys Raymond Sweet. He attended Burlington schools and on July 15, 1978, was married to the former Barbara Hatch who survives him. In addition to his wife, Barbara, of Swanton, he leaves his mother, Gladys Sweet of Colchester; three children, Roger P. Gay of Charlotte, James J. Garrison of Holland, and Gina M. Gay-Garrison of St. Albans Bay; six grandchildren; and two brothers, three sisters and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Pastor Jeffrey Cornwell of the Milton United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Garrison family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. To offer private online condolences please visit:
