SUZANNE MASSONNEAU - BRYAN, Texas - Suzanne Massonneau, 87, of Bryan, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2013. Born in New York City on Feb. 24, 1926, she spent her childhood years in Westchester and Albany, N.Y., and Fairfax County, Va. She received a BA degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and the MLS degree from the School of Library Science at the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla., where she subsequently served as a member of the teaching faculty. In later years, she served as a library administrator at Texas A and M University, Central Michigan University, and the University of Vermont, where she was Director of Technical Services and Interim Director of the University Library. She retired from UVM in 1991 as Library Professor Emerita, and relocated to Bryan in 1994. She was an active member of the American Library Association, a life member of the Bryan/College Station Friends of the Library Association and the author of scholarly publications in her field. She had been an avid fan of opera ever since her youth and frequently shared her near-encyclopedic knowledge of the art with others. She was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Moore Bullen, and her father, Robert Frank Massonneau. She is survived by her sister, Candace D. Leslie and husband, Robert H. Leslie, of Bryan, Texas, and their children, David A. Leslie and wife, Leigh, of West Lynn, Ore., Charles M. Leslie and wife, Denise, of Durango, Colo., and Mary Caroline Leslie of Bella Bella, British Columbia, Canada; brother, Grant D. Jones and wife, Mary Armistead, of Davidson, N.C., and their children, Alan A. Jones of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Christopher M. Jones and wife, Katherina Altpeter, of Portland, Ore.; and three grandneices and three grandnephews. A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th St., Bryan, TX 77802; and to KAMU TVFM, Texas A&M University, 4244 TAMU, College Station, TX 778434244.
