Atlee H. Honse Sr., 71, of Renfrew passed away Sunday at his home.
Born in Greensburg on Sept. 12, 1941, he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Dorothy Cousins Honse.
He retired from Butler Armco, where he was employed for 15 years.
He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, the French and Belgium Club, the Italian Society, the Butler Elks, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 64 of Butler, American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the VFW post in Ligonier.
He served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a devoted husband and father who especially loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, dancing and home remodeling.
He is survived by his wife, Janis D. Petrigni Honse, to whom he was married for 46 years; one son, Atlee H. Honse Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Stacey Honse and her fiancé, Robert Fowler, of Butler and Danielle Helch and her husband, David, of Chicora; one brother, John Goodwin of Nevada; one sister, Harriet Jane Honse of Ligonier; and five grandchildren, Brandy Bauer, Brady Bandura, Mariah Helch, Macie Helch and Madison Helch.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel A. Honse.
HONSE - Friends of Atlee H. Honse Sr., who passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James W. Dollhopf, the pastor of the First English Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the UPMC Cancer Center.
Members of VFW Post 249 and American Legion Post 778 will meet at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to conduct military honors.
