Dan A. Bush
Dan A. Bush, 91, of Redmond, Ore., formerly of Butler, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012.
He was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Butler to Luther and Hulda Bush. Their family also included sisters Betty, Martha (Noble) and Peggy (Sherrod).
Dan served in World War II as a naval aviator B-24 bomber pilot in the American and European North African Theaters. He received flight training at Chapel Hill and at NAS Norfolk, Patuxent River and Pensacola. Dan was commissioned as a lieutenant junior grade on Dec. 1, 1943, and he married Sarah "Sally" Browne on Dec. 24, 1943.
He worked for the MIC and GMAC divisions of General Motors for 27 years before retiring in 1976. Dan and Sally retired to Punta Gorda, Fla., from Pittsburgh. They moved to Redmond, Ore., in 2000.
Dan was a 32nd degree mason in the Valley of New Castle and a longtime member of the Elks Club. Dan's hobbies included woodworking, clocks and duck carving.
Dan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sally; his son, Dan Jr. and his wife, Mary; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His extended family includes three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dan's family and extended family live in Oregon, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Wyoming.
