Doris I. Dee, 87, of Pine Street, Parker, passed away early Monday morning at Clarion Hospital.
Mrs. Dee was born on Aug. 11, 1926, in Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County, the daughter of Thomas B. and Bertha M. Crawford Hamilton.
She was a 1945 graduate of East Brady High School.
Mrs. Dee was Methodist.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Parker VFW and American Legion posts. Doris was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and canning. She especially enjoyed the company of her family. She had been the Republican Party committee person for the city of Parker for a number of years. In her early years, she was employed by the Glass Container Corporation in Parker. Mrs. Dee was the proprietor of the Children's Shop in Parker. Doris was self-employed as a bookkeeper and accountant and was a well-known notary public in Parker for nearly 50 years. She also was employed for more than a decade by the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District as wage tax collector.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Dee, who she married on Sept. 22, 1956, in East Brady. The couple recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are her three children, Beverlee Dee of Cochranton, Paula J. Braves of Hampton and Virginia and Ryan Dee of Cochranton; her two brothers, Samuel Hamilton of Butler and Robert Hamilton of Ocala, Fla.; her sister, Creda Hornberger and her husband, Glenn, of Cowansville, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
DEE - A private visitation and funeral service for Doris I. Dee, who passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, will be held Wednesday at the Hile Funeral Home, St. Petersburg. A graveside committal and interment will take place at Perryville Cemetery, Perry Township, Clarion County, with the Rev. Charles J. Campbell, officiating.
