Harold L. "Buck" Cunningham Jr., 71, of McDonald, formerly of Chicora, died late Monday afternoon at VA Butler Healthcare.
Mr. Cunningham was born in Baltimore, Md., on July 27, 1942. He was the son of Charlotte McKlveen Cunningham of Madison, Tenn., and the late Harold L. Cunningham Sr.
He grew up in Coraopolis and was a graduate of Moon Township High School.
He was a Methodist.
"Buck" was a Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers fan. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and playing softball. He had served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the VA Hospital, and the Vietnam Veterans of America in Butler, and was a member of the Chicora American Legion Post 642.
He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was stationed in Korea. Harold was also in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1976-1980.
Mr. Cunningham was retired from the maintenance department at Moraine State Park.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two children, Craig Cunningham and his wife, Dyan, of Snellville, Ga., and Lori Nagle and her husband, Jamie, of Chicora. Also surviving are his girlfriend, Judy Shea of McDonald, as well as his five grandchildren, Tasha, Cassie, Ashley, Cody and Tia Nagle, all of Chicora; his two brothers, Allan Cunningham of Butler and Brian Cunningham and his wife, Lela, of Madison, Tenn., and a number of nieces and nephews.
CUNNINGHAM - A memorial service for Harold L. "Buck" Cunningham Jr., who died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St. Butler, with the Rev. Patricia Nelson, church pastor, officiating.
Interment and military honors will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville.
The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hile Funeral Home of Chicora.
