Harold Rhinehart Beazell Jr., 88, formerly of Meadowood in Butler, and Concordia Haven III, Cabot, passed away Monday.

Born on July 12, 1925 in Monongahela, Pa., he was the son of the late Harold Rhinehart Beazell Sr. and Mary Alice Beazell McDowell.
During his senior year at Monongahela High School, Hal enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his naval service in World War II, he graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business in 1949.
He was a businessman and along with his wife, owned Hal's Shop 'n Save in Butler. Following the sale of his grocery store in 1971, Hal worked for Lutheran Service Society and then was the director of the Butler County Area Agency on Aging retiring in 1992. He was a member and volunteer of the Butler County Republican Committee, and the Lyndora American Legion Post 778.
He was a long-term member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler, and after moving, he became a member of the Cabot United Methodist Church.
He was a life member of the Western Star Lodge 21 F & AM, the Scottish Rite of New Castle, the Syria Temple, Butler Caravan 14, and the past president of Butler Shrine Luncheon Club. His earlier past times included coin collecting and being a train enthusiast.
Surviving are his sister, Mary Katherine (Kay) Blair and her husband, Carl, of Hemphill, Texas, and his children, a son, Harold R. Beazell, III of Franklin, Pa., and his two daughters, Marcia Beazell Scott and her husband, Bob, of Allentown, Pa., and Cynthia Beazell Krchnavy and her husband, Stephen, of Sarver.
Also surviving are his six grandchildren, Christina Scott Harley and her husband, John IV, Felicity Scott Bodden and her husband, Kyle, Brittnye Scott, Laura Beazell Krchnavy-Romonovich and her husband, Zachery, Mathew Junker and his wife, Leann, and Sarah VanDyne and her husband, Michael; his six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marilyn in 2011; his sister, Donna Gail McDowell in 1984, and his grandson, Charles R. Scott III in 2001.
BEAZELL - A memorial service for Harold Rhinehart Beazell Jr., who passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, will be later.
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Young Funeral Home, Butler.
