John E. Zang, 67, of Butler died Friday as a result of an auto accident.

Born on Nov. 11, 1945, in Butler, he was a son of the late Earl "Curly" Zang and Dorothy (McIntyre) Zang.
John worked at the Pullman Standard Car Co. in Butler, until the plant closed, and then worked Allegheny Axle in Butler for 22 years.
He was a member of the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion 117 in Butler, and the VFW in Tidioute, Pa. He had enjoyed hunting and fishing.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon R. (Green) Zang, who he married on Aug. 7, 1971; his three sons, Brian R. (Amy J.) Zang of Butler, Clint J. Zang of Ogden, Utah, and Brad J. (Nicki) Zang of Butler; his grandson, Justin R. Zang of Chicora; and his seven sisters and brothers, Dolores (Paul) Fallecker of Driftwood, Pa., Paul Zang of Butler, Floyd (Marcia) Zang of Chicora, Robert (Hiroko) Zang of Butler, Judy (Robert) Hornig of Sarasota, Fla., Linda Benson of Butler and Alvin (Sue) Zang of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dave Zang and Earl "Brownie" Zang.
ZANG - The friends of John E. Zang, who died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Matt McClain will officiate.
