John Lawrence, 90, of Renfrew passed away Wednesday at the VNA Hospice in Butler.

Born on Jan. 17, 1924, in Lyndora, he was the son of the late John and Anna Danko Lawrence.
He was employed by Armco/AK Steel as a roll grinder retiring in 1986, following 43 years of service.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church; the VFW in Butler and the American Legion Post 778.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Surviving are his beloved companion, Vilma Tomosovich; his brother, George Lawrence of Moon Township; his eight nieces, Susan (John) Bimle, Dolores (Rich) Marchinoski, Denise Cupps, Johanna (Steve) Boyd, Christine Cupps, Becky (Larry) Dandrea, Jenny Geary and Joann (Huston) Walker; and his nephew, Larry Shramowick.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael "Butch" Lawrence, and his two sisters, Ann Shramowick and Margaret Cupps.
LAWRENCE - The friends of John Lawrence, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Butler.
Parastas service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
