Mildred V. Cole, 92, of Butler passed away Monday at St. John Specialty Care in Mars.
Born on May 17, 1921, in Buhl, Minn., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Ruth Andersen Larson.
She was the wife of William M. Cole Sr. They were married on Nov. 3, 1945, and he passed away on Aug. 12, 2006.
She was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and Anchor Hospital as a registered nurse. She worked at various hospitals and doctor offices for 40 years.
She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Butler.
She was a violinist and held the first and second chair in various orchestras. She enjoyed swimming, boating, fishing, ice skating and camping. She enjoyed all sports and extensive traveling with her husband after her retirement in the United States and Canada. Following her retirement, she relocated to southeastern Florida for many years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and loved very much to be with her family.
Surviving are her two sons, William M. (Patricia) Cole Jr. of Butler and Robert A. (Susan) Cole of Fort Wayne, Ind.; her four grandchildren, Stacie (Rajesh) Gopal of Sewickley, Julie Cole, Megan (Brian) Miller of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Emily (Thomas) Rabel of Albuquerque, N.M.; her five great-grandchildren, Lila and Kira Gopal, and William, Caroline and Harrison Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Judy Cole, who passed away in 1948, and her two sisters, Betty Rome and Irene Kapula
COLE - The friends of Mildred V. Cole, who passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., Butler. The Rev. James Dollhopf, pastor, will officiate. Internment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to at St. Jude Tribute Program P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
