Phoebe Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Drennen, 95, formerly of Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, passed away Saturday at Orchard Manor, Grove City.

She was born in Slippery Rock, Butler County, on May 10, 1919, to the late Jesse Otis Kelly and Jean Campbell McConnell Kelly.
She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1937.
Betty married Thomas Richard Drennen on April 30, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2009.
She was the oldest living member of North Liberty Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir and served as a children's Sunday school superintendent.
She was a U.S. Women's Army Corps veteran, having served at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, during 1945 and 1946. She was a med tech and took care of soldiers who were injured during World War II.
She was a member of the Slippery Rock American Legion Auxiliary Post 393. Her grandfather, Henry McConnell, fought as a soldier in the Round Head Division during the Civil War.
She was a devoted wife and mother, and the heart and soul of her family. She was a great historian of the town of Slippery Rock. She will always be remembered for her enthusiasm of cooking, cleaning and visiting with friends and neighbors. She greeted each day with a joyful sense of humor, always eager to give a compliment or say a kind word.
Survivors include her two sons, Timothy Rhodes and his wife, Debby Drennen, of Slippery Rock, and Thomas "Tucker" B. and his wife, Leslie Drennen, of Niwot, Colo.; her two daughters, Tara A. and her husband, Robert Pizor, of Slippery Rock, and Tamara J. and her husband, Rod Miller, of Slippery Rock; her brother, Jesse C. "Chris" and his wife, Ruth Kelly, of Mercer; her six grandchildren, Kalin R. Drennen, Kelsey L. Drennen, Tia K. Burton, Elizabeth Zoe Pizor, Jessy C. Osborne, and Chloe J. Pizor, and her four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Drennen- The family of Phoebe Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Drennen, who passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The funeral service will be at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Mahaffey, retired pastor, presiding. Interment will be in North Liberty Cemetery.
