Randy Kenneth Sarver, 57, passed away Friday evening at the Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg, where he had lived since Nov. 20, 2012.
He was born in Butler, and lived on Schnur Road in Herman and South Trail in Butler. He attended St. Anthony's School in Oakmont for 14 years as a residential student, and worked at the Butler County ARC for 35 years. He was at Lifesteps until a three -month illness during the summer of 2012.
Randy met Linda Cyprian in his group home and soon moved to her house on East Cunningham Street. For 20 years Linda, Randy and house mate Marty Decker traveled extensively across the United States and Toronto and enjoyed annual vacations to the Outer Banks.
Randy began competing in the Special Olympics, swimming while at St. Anthony's and won many trophies and medals. Later, he continued his success in bowling and power lifting while at the Cyprian residence.
He was born Aug. 16, 1955, and was preceded in death by his father, Leroy, in 1997 and his mother, Leola, just 12 days ago on July 14, Randy was the youngest of six children, the late Mrs. John (Sally) Molnar, Ronald (Mary Ann) of Glenshaw, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Murray of Bradford Woods, Robert (Barb) of Seminole, Fla., and Richard (Kathy) of Butler. He had six nieces, six nephews, nine grandnieces, 11 grandnephews and one great-grandniece.
Sarver - Friends of Randy Kenneth Sarver, who passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Herman.
