Willis L. "Bill" Gates, 84, of Fort McCoy, Fla., passed away Monday at the Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.
He was born in Butler and was a resident of Fort McCoy for the past 33 years, coming from Miami, Fla.
He worked for many years as an executive chef and was a longtime member of the American Culinary Federation.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was a member of the VFW Post 10208 in Salt Springs, Fla., and a member of the Ocala Moose Lodge 1014. He was a former member of the Thorn Creek Methodist Church in Butler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Gates, and his son, John Zeh.
Survivors include his two daughters, Ann Davis and Barbara Priest, both of Ocala, Fla.; his two brothers, Rex W. Gates and Gary L. Gates, both of Butler; his two sisters, Glenna Franko and Sondra Grossman, both of Butler; his four grandchildren, and his four great-grandchildren.
