Bette Jo Hunt Bette Jo Hunt, Overland Park, KS, born May 15, 1925, passed away September 22, 2013. She was born in Rock Rapids, IA to Guy R. Hutchinson and Pauline W. (Colberg) Hutchinson. She attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA and married R. J. (Jim) Hunt in 1947. Jo moved to Topeka, KS in 1950 and began working as a secretary at Washburn University in 1956. She retired as the Administrative Assistant to the president of Washburn University in 1981. In 1990 she was honored by Washburn and named Eminentes Universitatus (equal to Emeriti status for a faculty member). Jo enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking in her retirement. She served on the Women's Board of the Friends of the Mulvane Art Museum at Washburn University and was a member of the Nautilus Club and St. David's Episcopal Church. She moved to Fairway, KS, in 2011 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Paula J. Kay and son-in-law, William R. Kay of Westwood Hills, KS. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 24th at 1:30 p.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church, 17th and Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS.
