Kenneth Roger Rowe Kenneth R. Rowe, 87, died in Ottawa, Kansas on Monday, March 17, 2014. He was born September 27, 1926 near Manhattan, Kansas to Charles and Flossie (Keech) Rowe. He is an alumni of St. George High School. Ken joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He was an amphibious tractor operator and participated in major assault waves in the South Pacific during WWII. At the end of WWII he returned to Kansas and graduated from air conditioning and refrigeration school in Kansas City. He also attended Kansas State University to study mechanical engineering. Ken retired in 1988. During his retirement, Ken enjoyed vehicle and golf cart restoration and played golf on a senior's golf league in Salina where he and his wife resided for the past 40 years. They had also lived in Topeka and Manhattan, Kansas and Rochester, Minnesota. He was married to L. Louise Marker on October 9, 1949, in Diller, Nebraska. Surviving are his wife, Louise; two sons: Steven K. Rowe of Ottawa, Kansas; and Reginald C. Rowe and wife Beverly of Cozad, Nebraska, six grandsons and one granddaughter, 11 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Ronald D. Rowe of Strong City, two sisters, Virginia L. Rowe Reed of Stockton, CA and Doloris A. Rowe McNamar of Longview, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers and 1 sister. The family will greet friends during a visitation from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Valley View Memorial Gardens on East Hwy 24 in Manhattan, with the Rev. Ben Duerfeldt officiating.
