Mickey Parman, 91, passed away, Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born September 13, 1921, in Harrisonville, MO, to Albert Denton Matteson and Eva Burilla Kerrens. She was married to Keith Charles Parman, October 12, 1947. He preceded her in death, September 21, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Alta Mae Susie Thompson. Mrs. Parman was a sportswriter, editor, and columnist at the Atchison Daily Globe for 21 years. She was also employed as a reporter at St. Joseph News-Press and as a publicity director at the International Forest of Friendship in Atchison. Survivors include her children, Bruce Parman (Jennifer), Tony Parman, Wendy Parman (Ronald Lowy) and Trudy Parman; grandchildren, Tyne, Casey and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Noah; and her brother, Denton Matteson. A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to International Forest of Friendship, Atchison KS or Aldersgate Village, sent in care of the funeral home.
