Terrance Terry Matthew Cavanaugh Mass of Christian Burial for Terrance Terry Matthew Cavanaugh, 69, Lawrence, formerly of Topeka, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence. He died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his home. Terry was born on January 8, 1944 in Topeka, KS the son of Clarence M. and Maureen J. (Brennan) Cavanaugh. He was a graduate of Bishop Ward High School, Kansas City, KS, received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Washburn University, Topeka, KS; and an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science, from Kansas City Kansas Community College, Kansas City, KS. Terry is a 3rd generation Funeral Director and Embalmer. He worked for Warren-McElwain Mortuary as a licensed Funeral Director since February 2002. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus - Council #12960, Kansas Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association. Survivors include one sister, Carol Skidgel, Overland Park, KS; three brothers, Stephen Cavanaugh, David Cavanaugh, both of Topeka, and Michael Cavanaugh, Evergreen, CO; and eight nieces and nephews; and one great niece. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013. The family will greet friends following the rosary until 8:00 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in his name to Corpus Christi School Building Fund, or St. John School Building Fund, or Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
