Wilfred Bill Dreiling, 82, of Topeka KS passed away Fri. Feb. 15, 2013 in Topeka KS. He was born Mar. 10, 1930 in Victoria KS to Anselm and Hermelena (Leiker) Dreiling. In 1951 Bill joined the Army, where he served in Korea; he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. On Feb. 18, 1952, Bill married Rita Denning at the Cathedral of the Plains in Victoria KS. In 1955 Bill and Rita moved to Topeka, where he received his Master s of Education at Washburn University. Bill was a teacher for six years and a principal for 27 years for the Topeka Public School District. He retired in 1991. Bill was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, and Retired Principals. Survivors include his wife, Rita Dreiling; daughters, Lena (Steve) Schwarm, Olathe KS, Anita (Mike) Curry and Melissa (Brad) Miller, both of Topeka KS; grandchildren, Stephanie Curry, Spencer Curry, Zachary Miller, and Benjamin Miller; sisters, Hedwig Matthews of Arizona, Blanche King of Texas, and Mary Bacchus of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Othmar, Daniel and Gilbert, and sister, Lioba Lewis. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wed., Feb. 20, 2013, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
