Winifred (Cagle) Gard Winifred (Cagle) Gard, age 87, of Topeka, died in Sun City, AZ, on Monday, February 17, 2014. She was born in Ingalls, KS, the daughter of Daniel N. Boone and Mable Boone. Winnie graduated from Netawaka High School. She earned a BS degree from the University of Illinois. Later, she earned a BA degree in early education and a MA degree in learning disabilities from the University of Kansas. She married Louis L. Cagle, who preceded her in death, after 54 years of marriage. Winnie taught 21 years as a kindergarten and learning disabilities teacher, in USD 501. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and was active in church education. In 2002, following Louis' death, Winnie married long-time family friend, Robert (Bob) R. Gard. They resided in Sun City, AZ and attended Faith Presbyterian Church. During her lifetime, Winnie loved the outdoors and appreciated all of nature's beauty. Survivors include her husband Robert; son, Stephen (Judy) Cagle; son, Gary Cagle; daughter, LouAnne (Dave) Dunaway; daughter, Nancy (Paul) Dotson; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Cremation provided by Sunland Memorial Park, Mortuary and Cremation Center, Sun City, AZ. A private memorial service will be held in Topeka with burial in Rochester Cemetery.
