Redfield, Charles D.
Charles D. Redfield, 81, of Monroe, and a former lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was born in Stamford on October 5, 1932 to the late Christine (Deicke) King and Stepfather Trumbull King.
Affectionately known to his family and friends as "Red" or "Uncle Donnie", Charlie was the epitome of a hardworking and dedicated family man. He was a generous and caring soul, who was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a dear friend to many.
Charles attended Stamford schools and graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1951. Following high school, Charles entered the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard. Upon his discharge from the service, he attended the University of Connecticut and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He married the love of his life, Theresa Rosa Redfield, in 1957 and together they enjoyed 38 years of marriage until Theresa's passing in 1995. Charles worked for Petro Oil Company in Stamford for 38 years until his retirement in 2006.
Charlie loved his annual family vacations to the Jersey shore and frequent visits to Florida where he could just relax and spend quality time with his family. He enjoyed learning about history, listening to jazz, and was an avid reader. Above all, Charles was happiest just spending time with his family and close friends. He was truly a special person to those who knew and loved him, and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his loving children; Christopher Redfield, and his wife Tracy, of Ansonia, CT, Tracey DeRubis, and her husband Daniel, of Monroe, CT, and Kerrieann Gourley, and her husband Douglas, of Sarasota, FL, his beloved grandchildren; Daniel Jr., Haley and Casey, his three brothers; Bruce Redfield, and his wife Connie, Sandy King, and his wife Carol Ann, and Jeffery King, and his wife Nancy, his Godchild; Justin Griffiths and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
In accordance to his wishes, the funeral services for Charles will be private.
The Redfield family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, in Stamford. If you would like to leave an online condolence message, you may sign the family guestbook on or visit the funeral home Facebook page at
