Schick, Christian L.
Christian Lloyd Schick (Sonny), age 86 of Southport, beloved husband of the late Joan Orosz Schick, passed away in his home Thursday, March 13, 2014. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Christian and Geraldine Schick, he had been a lifelong town resident. Chris graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a retired Electrician. Chris loved all sports and participated in bowling leagues and old-times softball until almost 80 years old. He was an avid NY Mets, Jets, Giants and UConn Women's Basketball fan, and loved animals of all kinds. He enjoyed taking rides in his car with his beloved dog Kelsey to enjoy the scenery and to get Dunkin Donuts coffee. He took pleasure in working around his yard and taking vacations. Chris is survived by a devoted daughter, Betsy Rojas and her husband Edwin of Westport; a daughter, Suzy Martin and her husband Bruce of Johnsburg, IL. His grandchildren were the lights of his life, Zachary Harwood, Joseph Harwood, Christopher Martin and his wife Lauren, Abigail Martin and Daniel Martin. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Mina Rose Harwood of New Hampshire; and his adored dog, Kelsey. Chris is also survived by a sister, Geraldine Pittorie and her husband Joseph of Fairfield, loyal cousins, Evelyn and John Saxonmeyer, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Southport. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Calling hours have been omitted.
