Donald A. DeCarlo, age 72 of Bridgeport, the beloved husband of Patricia (English) DeCarlo, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013. Born in Bridgeport on August 28, 1940, he was the son of the late Donald and Rose (Conte) DeCarlo. Donald retired as an Assistant Chief for the Bridgeport Fire Department after 26 years of service. He was the Fire Department Union Vice-president for 19 years. Donald received an award for Firefighter of the Year in 1996. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Donald's life centered around his family, his children and his grandchildren who he adored. He was their "PaPa" and loved going to their sporting events, playing games and babysitting for all of them. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Mark DeCarlo and wife Joelle, Michelle Lungi and husband Josh, his four cherished grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael DeCarlo, Sarah and Kelly Lungi, his sister-in-law, Lorraine Liquigli, one nephew, Michael Liquigli and wife Mary and one niece, Laurie Wilczynski and husband Dan. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert DeCarlo and his father and mother-in-law, Patsy and Nancy English, also his brother-in-law, Al Liquigli. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations may be made to the , 38 Richards Ave., Norwalk CT 06854, or a charity of ones choice in memory of Donald. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY in St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment in Long Hill Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
