Ludwig, Eileen R.
Eileen Rita Ludwig, 66, of Orlando, FL died in Houston, TX on February 25, 2014 from complications due to breast cancer. She loved to travel and was traveling from Florida west with a stop at the Houston Space Center. She was born January 28, 1948 to Nicholas and Lillian (Kennedy) Ludwig in Tuckahoe, NY. She is survived by five siblings: Catherine Ludwig Donleycott, of Raleigh, NC; Ken Ludwig and his wife, Carole, of Huntington, CT; Stephen Ludwig and his wife, Joanne, of East Haven, CT; Lorraine Ludwig Westervelt and her husband, Bob, of Fairfield, CT; Philip Ludwig and his wife, Nubia, of Stratford, CT; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Ludwig. Eileen was a graduate of Darien High School, earned her BA at Vermont College, her MS at Capella University and her MA at George Washington University. She also lived in Darien, CT, Raleigh, NC, West Haven, CT and Virginia Beach, VA. She was a problem solver who had eclectic work experiences including creating informational and instructional materials using multimedia and web technologies; also consulting, teaching, training and project management of computer systems, networks, technical support, web sites and computer/network repair. She was an avid traveler and shared her experiences thorough her website freelancetourist.com. A graveside service was held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at St. John's Cemetery in Norwalk, CT. Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Spring Branch Health Care Center and Dr. Adeeba Akhtar of Houston, TX for their support in her final weeks. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewater Community College, where Eileen taught online courses, to support women over 50 who seek a new direction.
