Kennedy, Frank P.
Frank P. Kennedy, Sr., age 82 of Stratford, died on Friday, June 20, 2014 at St. Vincent Medical Center. He had been married to the late Theresa (O'Sullivan) Kennedy for 53 years.
Frank was born in Bridgeport to the late Francis and Loretta Fitzgerald Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy was a veteran of the Korean War where he had served in the US Army. He had been employed for the City of Bridgeport Board of Education for many years as the head of maintenance and as a special police officer where he was known as "Cop Kennedy".
He enjoyed treating family and friends to many dinners. Frank was very generous and loved to give gifts to his family. He had enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He and Theresa enjoyed traveling and had many wonderful trips over the years. During the last few years, he made a ritual of meeting with friends in the morning at the Milford Mall and spent afternoons at the Bridgeport Senior Center. Frank had a gruff exterior but underneath that tough shell was a great sense of humor.
Survivors include five children and their spouses, Frank and Anne Kennedy of Beacon Falls, Kevin and Jinette Kennedy of Trumbull, Kathy and Joe Bevino of Shelton, Gerry and Henry Falcone of Stratford and Tricia and Tony Capozziello of Monroe; nine grandchildren, Kristopher and Caroline Kennedy, Ryan and Devan Bevino, Catie and Julie Falcone and Claire, Jane and Kate Capozziello; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one brother, James Kennedy; and two sisters, Pat Walsh and Loretta "Sweet" Lombardi.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 9:30 am DIRECTLY at St. Patrick Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford.
