Brand, Jack R.
Jack R. Brand, age 65, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2013 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Mary Elise (Mahns) Brand. Jack was born in Long Branch, NJ on April 16, 1948 son of the late Jesse R. and Ruth (Wagner) Brand and has been a Shelton resident since 1979. He was a graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma and after graduation served as an instructor at the school. He was a proud US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and was the present commander of the Huntington VFW Post #10466. Jack worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 18 years where he wrote the manual and was an instructor for the S - 76 Project and he worked for the Bridgeport Harley Davidson. Most recently, he was a bus driver for the Durham Bus Company for 5 years in the Trumbull, Shelton and Stratford before retiring. He was a member and past Lieutenant of the Pine Rock Fire Department #4 and also member of City of Shelton Fire Police. Jack was a member of the Bridgeport Chapter of HOG and after his retirement enjoyed being an artist. Jack was the loving father of Jack Brand (Jennifer) and Matthew Brand (Dan), brother of Barbara Santanello, Louanne Veverka, Stephen Brand, Wendy Bonett, Susan Olman and Jonathan Brand. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Zachary and Abigail and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 -6pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton, CT. On Monday, a funeral service will be celebrated by Rev. Cathy Rohrs at the funeral home at 11am followed by burial with full military honors at the Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pine Rock Fire Company #4, 722 Long Hill Ave., Shelton, CT 06484 or Huntington VFW Post #10466, 14 Abbey Lane, Shelton, CT.
