Agapito, John
John Agapito, age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2014. He was one of four children born to Joseph and Virginia Agapito on February 15, 1949 in Bridgeport, CT. John graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1966. He joined the US Army and served honorably in both Korea and Vietnam. Upon his return home John went to work for the United Illuminating Company where he worked until his retirement. John was the life of the party and a friend to all. He was kind and generous and always saw the good in everyone. John embraced life. He never complained and accepted the challenges of his illness making adjustments as needed. He is survived by a sister, Gail Da Silva and her husband, Louis Da Silva, and sister-in-law, Elvira Agapito. John's memory will be forever cherished by his nieces and nephews, Diane Beebe, Jim Almeida, Jenny Booker, John Paul Agapito, Danny Agapito, Chrissy Hawthorne and Jess Gavin. He was the great uncle of Rachel, TJ, Mia, Victoria, Olivia, Anna, Lila, Addy and Lily. He was predeceased by a sister, Delfina Almeida, and a brother, Joseph Agapito. A service to celebrate John's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent's Medical Center Chapel, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport. Family and friends are invited to gather immediately following at Vazzys, 513 Broadbridge Ave., Bridgeport. Special thanks to the staff of 9 South at St. Vincent's. Your compassion and reverence for John was awesome! Thank you for making John's final journey on earth a peaceful transition. Our heartfelt thanks to the teachers and staff of St. Vincent's Special Needs Changing Images who embraced John, gave him purpose and helped him to continue making a "joyful noise" to the end.
