Breslin, Jr., John E.
John E. Breslin, Jr., age 85, of Stratford, CT, passed away peacefully with his wife and two sons at his bedside on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. John was born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 11, 1927 to John E. Breslin, Sr. and Helen Breslin. He graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School, and upon graduation enlisted to fight in World War II. He served in the United States Navy as an original crew member aboard the USS Little Rock. It was while in the service of his country that John met his loving wife of 63 years, Lucille F. Tessier of Fall River, MA. In 1950, John and "Tess" Breslin became husband and wife. They made their home in Gloucester, NJ, where John worked as a rigger and crane operator. In 1990, they moved to Stratford, CT.
John was active in retirement and enjoyed walking, photography, working with his model train collection, and traveling with his wife to visit his grandchildren and watch them compete in school sports. A true gentleman of great warmth and humor, John had a lifelong interest in and knowledge of history and geography. He will be missed by a loving family and his many friends and neighbors.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his sons: Mark Breslin of Stamford, CT, and his wife Dianne Nolan and their three sons Zachary, Andrew and John; and Paul Breslin of Wayland, MA, and his wife Cathy and their two children Samuel and Abigail. He is also survived by his younger brother Thomas Breslin and his wife Dorothy of Sewell, NJ, and their five children Jeffrey, Susan, Carol, Patty and Kim.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2013 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Stratford, CT at 11:00 AM. Friends and family may call before the mass at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John's memory to either the at www.cancer.org or the at www.alz.org. Cody-White Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
