DeRose - John Frank DeRose of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Philomena "Fannie" (Derlitz) DeRose for 64 years, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. DeRose was born June 12, 1924 in Fairfield, son of the late Carmello and Caterina (Mulinaro) DeRosa and had been a Stratford resident for over 45 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and was a retired machinist for Schick Safety Razor. In retirement, he worked for Joseph A. Grosso Builder & Son, Fairfield and the Sports Center, Shelton. John loved wood working and all kinds of carpentry. He enjoyed traveling and playing cards with his friends and Saturday night dancing with Fannie. He was an active member and an usher for Saint Mark's Church. Survivors include his four children, Mary Petrino of Stratford, John "Jack" DeRose and his wife, Carol, of Stratford, Sue Nykaza and her husband, Lenny, of Shelton and Nancy DeRose Annecchino and her husband, Lee, of Glastonbury; one brother, Orazio DeRosa and his wife, Flo, of Tustin, CA; one sister, Antoniette (DeRosa) Grosso of Anaheim, CA; three sisters-in-law, Catherine Riggott of Milford, Margie Hodson, and her husband, Ernie, of Monroe and Madeline Jascewsky and her husband, Eddie, of Bolingbrook, IL; eleven grandchildren, Jeannette Hirschfield, Cheryl Cusa, James Stewart, John Eric DeRose, Matthew DeRose, Sandi DeRose, Lindsay Troncone, Christine Hoffmann, John Michael Petrino, Paige Annecchino and Kyle Annecchino; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister, Anthony DeRosa and Theresa (DeRosa) Grosso. John's family would like to thank Darla Krapp and Mary Brown for the years of loving care they gave to their parents. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT followed at 10:00 a.m. by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
