John J. G. Nicolson Jr. (Jack), 90, died in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. He was born on April 17, 1922 in Bridgeport, CT to the late John J. G. & Ramona Nicolson Sr. He Graduated from Stratford High School, and following graduation he enlisted with the U.S. Army. He served in WWII as a communications specialist in both England and France from October, 1942 to January, 1946. Following his discharge he returned home and worked briefly for the town of Stratford and then began a long career with AT & T. He was married to Karin Ethelyn Carlson (Lynn) on November 16, 1946. Jack served in the National Guard from 1949 to 1982 retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After enjoying many summers vacationing at Goose Pond in Canaan, NH, Jack and Lynn moved to Enfield in 1980. He was a past president of the Hanover Lions Club and a former exalted ruler of the Hartford Elks Club. Jack was also a member of an award-winning ritual team while he was active with the Elks. He enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities and projects, especially fishing, tending to his blueberry field and maintaining his scenic landscape. Jack is survived by a daughter Karin Tarring of Keswick, VA, 2 sons, Robert Nicolson of Enfield, NH and Michael Chan of Dover, NH. and a sister, Janet Santa of Shelton, CT. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Hilarie, Sarah, Jessica, and Heidi and two great grandchildren, Collin and Olivia as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lynn, his son Jack, and his brother, Elliot.
Family and friends are invited to a calling hour at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School Street, Lebanon, NH on Monday, November 12, 2012 beginning at 1pm with a funeral service at the funeral home beginning at 2pm. The Rev. Patricia Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield, NH.
