Joseph M. DiLisio, Sr. age 76, husband of Jean Huzi DiLisio of Seymour, died April 2, 2013 at VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary's Hospital, Waterbury. Born on January 19, 1937 in Ansonia to the late Carmine and Marion (Geloso) DiLisio, he was a resident of Seymour for the past 49 years. Joe was a graduate of Pine High School class of 1955, DeVry Technical Institute, and Connecticut School of Electronics. He was employed by General Electric Factory Service as a service technician for 25 years and for the Ansonia School food systems for 5 years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a Veteran of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Besides his wife Jean of 52 years, he is survived by a daughter Diane Parzyck and her husband Edwin of Naugatuck, Son Joseph M. DiLisio Jr. and his wife Norine of Derby; four grandchildren, Andrew and Brian Parzyck, of Naugatuck, Kimberly and Kevin DiLisio of Derby; his mother-in-law, Stella Huzi of Prospect; brother Carmen DiLisio (Anne) of Derby; sisters, Mary Pawloski of Ansonia, Carmella Bernabe of Port Charlotte, FL. and Theresa Jones of PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and John DiLisio and two sisters, Francis Viega and Pauline Garofalo. Joe was a member of East Mountain Golf Course, and Western Hills, Waterbury. He was a former member of Great Hills Golf Course of Seymour and Woodhaven Golf Course of Bethany. Joe played four years at the Dupont World Amateur Golf Tournament, Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a member of St. Augustine Church, Seymour and of the Seymour and Oxford Senior Centers. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers of Yale New Haven Hospital and the Vitas Hospice at Saint Mary's Hospital Waterbury for their kind and compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial, Meeting Directly at Church, will be celebrated on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 10:30 AM in St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Ave., Seymour. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
