Lyle Hoyt Hayes, age 79 of Trumbull entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Westport to the late Hoyt and Evelyn L. Holly Hayes, Lyle has been a resident of Trumbull for the past twenty-five years. He was a Marine Corps Veteran and was honorably discharged. Lyle retired from United Illuminating with forty-five years of service. Lyle was formerly active as former president of the CT Chapter of the AAU; the first African American Girl Scout Leader in the US; former delegate of the Trumbull Town Committee, president and volunteer at the Long Hill Fire Dept., member of the Board of Directors for both Bridgeport and Trumbull POP Warner Football; coach for the Monroe Youth Athletic Association and former disc jockey for WFOR 88.5. In addition to his parents Lyle was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Hayes. Survivors include two sons, Lyle H. Hayes, Jr. of GA and Jayson T. Hayes of Trumbull; four daughters, Gwendolyn and Nancy Hayes of GA, Evelyn R. and Thomaseana Hayes of Trumbull; a sister, Thomasina Robertson of VA; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013, 12 Noon at Mt. Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank St., Bridgeport with Rev. Anthony L:. Bennett, D.Min., officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to the viewing Tuesday from 10:00 AM - 12 Noon at the church. See
