Sara, Philip
Philip Sara, age 85 of Fairfield, beloved husband to Mary Trembeczki Sara, passed away on Thursday April 3, 2014 in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport, Philip was the son to the late Henry and Katherine Martin Sara. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1947, he proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Philip was a toolmaker for Sturm Ruger Fire Arms for forty years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the VFW Post 74, American Legion Post 9427, both of Fairfield and Port Five Naval Veterans in Black Rock. He served as a volunteer for many years at the West Haven VA Hospital, the committee for the Fairfield Memorial Day Parade, and for the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member the Sturm Ruger Pistol Shooting League. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his children Gary Sara of Darien, Janet Marotto and her husband Joseph of Stratford and Laura Dwinells and her husband Willard of Trumbull; his cherished grandchildren, Matthew Sara and his fiance' Ashley Phares, Stephanie Sara, Mark Marotto, Johanna and William Dwinells; Sisters in-law, Ann Boyle and her husband David of Shelton, Margaret Rosenthal and her husband Albert of Shelton and Rose Trembeczki of Monroe; and many nieces and nephews. Philip was predeceased by a brother Ormand Sara and a sister Doris Vereb; brothers in-law Joseph and Frank Trembeczki. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at 9 AM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center and 10 AM at Holy Family Church, Fairfield. His burial will follow with full military honors in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday April 8, 2014 from 4 to 8 PM.
