Connell, Phyllis E..
The Guest Book is expired.
Phyllis Eleanor Scott Connell, age 82, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John C. Connell (Ret. Stratford Fire Chief) passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at her home. Phyllis was born in Bridgeport to Charles and Mildred (Smith) Scott and has been a lifelong Lordship resident. She was married to John in 1956 and continued a loving marriage for 44 years. As a dedicated wife she took care of John during his extended illness. She was a graduate of Central High School and New Haven State Teachers College. Phyllis worked as a teacher for over 35 years starting at Edison and Garfield schools in Bridgeport and ending at Birdseye School and Stratford Academy in Stratford. Phyllis was dedicated to supporting numerous charitable organizations, which included Missionaries, Native American and animal welfare causes. She was known, against advice, to feed a myriad of wild animals in her backyard on a nightly basis. She dearly loved her cat Snooky and dog Baby who were always with her. She was an avid Yankees and Mets fan and a huge fan of both Derek Jeter and David Wright and toggled between both games when the teams played. She would also not miss a minute of her favorite TV show Duck Dynasty. She will be greatly missed by her sons and grandchildren who she always supported in any way she could. Along with her husband, they were the light of her life. Everyone who met her was immediately taken by her smile and graciousness and those who knew her were pleasantly tormented by her attention to silly routines. Survivors include her beloved sons, Jack Connell and his wife Viola, and Timothy Connell and his wife Bridget, all of Stratford, 6 cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Karen, Megan, Shauna, Jamie, and Amanda, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Betty Spinney. She will also be greatly missed by great nephew Chris Spinney whom she enjoyed many long phone calls with. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd at 9:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Peace Church, Lordship for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Milford. Friends may call on Monday from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Stratford Animal Shelter.
