Raymond Dirgo, Jr., age 82, beloved husband to the late Leah Timoney Dirgo, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 9, 1931 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late renowned cartoonist Raymond and Mildred Drew Dirgo, Sr. Raymond graduated from Harding High School, where he was the cartoonist for the high school newspaper. After graduating, he joined the 551st Army Division during the Korean War, and came out a decorated Corporal. In 1953, Raymond married the love of his life, Leah Grace Timoney. Throughout his life, Raymond was a talented freelance photographer and instructor at the Famous Artists School. Raymond became the founder and lifelong member of The Flashbulb CB Radio Club in Milford. He was also the Curator of the Iron Corporal Museum, and a lifelong member of the American Legion. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Raymond is survived by his children, Thomas A. Dirgo, Sr. of Milford, Elizabeth E. Dirgo (Victor Rice, Sr.) of Milford, Teri Garrett (Tim) of Ansonia, and Allen J. Dirgo of Bridgeport; his grandchildren Kristie, Jill, and Karen Ann Garrett, Jocelyn Dirgo, Emily, Thomas, Jr., Brian Dirgo, Victor Rice, Jr., and Michael Dirgo. In addition to his loving wife, he is predeceased by his sons Raymond Dirgo III and Michael F. Dirgo.
A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, at 10AM at Cody-White Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Milford, with full military honors.
