Raymond Aloysius Widziewicz, age 76, of Wolcott, entered into rest on Thursday, April 10, 2014. He was born in Derby, on August 21, 1937 son of the late Aloysius and Mary Widziewicz, and attended St. Michael's School, Derby High School, and graduated from Fairfield University in 1959.
Raymond taught Social Studies at Seymour High School for 35 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the CT Education Association, CT Education Association - Retired, Association of Retired Teachers of CT, and the National AfterSchool Association. Raymond was a board member at the Wolcott Library for 10 years. He was on the Greater Waterbury Cable Council, Waterbury Advisory Board and the Democratic Town Committee. Raymond was a member of the Derby Elks Lodge #571, Polish American Club in Naugatuck, SVAS and a social member of Catholic War Veterans St. Michael's Post 1562.
Raymond is the loving brother of Aloysius Widziewicz of Nyack, NY, Robert Winters and his wife Joanne of Beacon Falls, Mary Ann Smith and her husband Fred of Beacon Falls and the late Dorothy Widziewicz. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. On Monday, his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Michael's Church with the Rev. Robert Kwiatkowski celebrating mass.
