Cody, Richard F.
Richard F. Cody, age 84, beloved husband of Faye Childs Cody for 64 years and resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest March 27. He was born April 21, 1929 in Hartford, CT son of the late Michael & Esther Lyons Cody. A U.S. Army Veteran, he worked as a systems analyst for Nationwide Insurance. Richard was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia and a 64 year member and Past Captain of the Charter Hose Fire Co. in Ansonia He also served on Ansonia Zoning Board of Appeals, and coached basketball & farm team baseball for the Recreation Dept. for 30 years. Richard loved to golf & bowl, and was an avid Red Sox & Celtics fan. In addition to his wife Faye, he leaves to cherish his memory his son Richard M. Cody & wife Jennifer of Farmington, CT., 4 daughters, Shaye Sheehan & husband Mark of Southbury, Debi Hawks of Ansonia, Colleen Marsh & husband Ron of Ansonia, Kathleen Cody of Beacon Falls, and 9 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by her sister Joan Velms & son in law Thomas Hawks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Friends are asked to go directly to church, where military honors will also be rendered. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. ( In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Griffin Hospital Development Fund.
